How to Enable SMS Feature When Adding a Candidate

With Righteo's SMS functionality, you can send request links to candidates and referees through text messages simultaneously with the email requests. This gives candidates and referees another way to receive and act on requests, which can be especially useful when a quick response matters.
Please Note!
• SMS is now enabled by default for all users.
• You can enable or disable SMS functionality in the System Settings.
• To customize outbound SMS, check the Outbound SMS guide.
How to Enable SMS for a Candidate
1. Turn On the Enable SMS Feature Toggle
When creating a candidate, you'll see a No of Reference field along with an Enable SMS Feature toggle. Turning this toggle on enables the SMS feature for that specific candidate, so requests related to them will also go out by text message.
2. Click Add Candidate
Once the toggle is on and the rest of the candidate's details are filled in, click Add Candidate to save the candidate with SMS enabled.
What Candidates and Referees Receive by Text
Once SMS is enabled for a candidate, several actions in Righteo will trigger an automatic text message alongside the usual email.
Requesting Referees
When you click Request Referees, this sends a text message to the candidate asking them to provide their referee details, along with a link to get started, for example:

Sending a Reference Check Request
When you send the reference check request to the referee, this sends a text message letting them know they've been nominated and inviting them to submit their feedback, for example:
Hello Safiyah Galvan,Vincent Huff has nominated you as their employment reference.Please click the link below to provide your feedback.Thank you for your cooperation.
Sending a Reminder
When you send a reminder to the referee, this sends a follow-up text message nudging them to complete their feedback if they haven't already, for example:
Hello Safiyah Galvan,This is a friendly reminder that Vincent Huff has nominated you as their employment reference.Please click the link below to submit your feedback.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Final Thoughts
Enabling SMS for a candidate is a small toggle with a real impact on response times. Because SMS is already turned on by default for all users, most of the work is simply deciding, candidate by candidate, whether you want that extra text message channel active, and adjusting your outbound SMS settings if you'd like more control over how those messages are sent.
