How to Build an Assessment in Righteo

A single test rarely tells you everything you need to know about a candidate. Righteo lets you build a complete assessment by combining multiple tests, so you can evaluate skills, knowledge, and competencies together under one role. Here's how to put one together.

What an Assessment Is in Righteo

An assessment can include multiple tests. You can pull tests from Righteo's Test Library, build your own custom tests, or combine both. Stacking tests this way lets you assess a candidate across a full range of criteria for the role, rather than relying on a single test to do all the work.

1. Click Build New Assessment

From the Assessments section, click + Build New Assessment on the top right side of the screen.

2. Name the Assessment

You'll be prompted to enter a name, for example "Software Engineer Assessment." Once you've entered it, click Confirm.

One thing to keep in mind: assessment names can't be reused. If a name has already been used, you'll need to choose a new one before you can continue.

3. Select Tests for the Assessment

This is where the assessment takes shape. You can pull tests from the Test Library, Righteo's collection of ready-made tests filtered by category and difficulty level, or select your own templates under the Custom Test tab. Each test card shows the question count, time required, difficulty level, and category, so you can see at a glance whether it fits the role. Add as many tests as the assessment needs, then click Continue.

4. Reorder the Tests

Once your tests are selected, you can rearrange the order they'll appear in for the candidate. This is useful if you want to lead with a shorter screening test before moving into more in-depth or technical assessments. When the order looks right, click Finalize.

5. Set the Pass Marks

The last step is setting pass marks for the selected tests. This is what allows Righteo to automatically indicate whether a candidate is qualified, based on their combined results. You can select which tests count toward the pass mark calculation and set an individual pass mark for each one. Righteo will also show you the average pass mark across the selected tests, so you can see how the overall threshold shifts as you adjust each test.

Final Thoughts

Building an assessment this way means you're not stuck choosing between a single generic test or building everything from scratch. By combining tests from the Test Library with your own custom ones and setting clear pass marks, you end up with an assessment that's tailored to the role and gives you a straightforward, qualified or not qualified read on every candidate who takes it.
